The success (of the the Festival) is a grand example of amateurs becoming experts through sheer, bloody-minded enthusiasm" The Charlbury Chronicle
This will be Charlbury's 11th beer festival. That makes this festival one of the longest standing and most eagerly anticipated real ale events in the region. Two years ago it gained national recognition when The Independent cited the festival as a reason for moving to this small Cotswold Town.
Originally started in 1998 by a band of committed, determined, thirsty (and yet discerning) Dads, the festival was organised as a fundraising event for Charlbury Primary School. Since then the festival has sourced more than 200 top beers from 174 breweries.
It was then, and has continued to be a great social and fundraising success, to see some examples of what it has helped to achieve please take a look at The Point.
The organising committee, while still concentrating on the Beer Festival, has branched out into other activities. Its St Patrick's Night was a resounding success, and the CAMRA -correct panto A Winter's Ale involved and enthused the community as cast and audience in a way that the town had not seen for years!
This year the Beer Festival will be a little different, still
but take a look at The Venue to see where we are going..
